Impressive performance by the Stanford University Space Rendezvous Laboratory at the 2025 IEEE Aerospace Conference.
We received the M. Barry Carlton Award which recognizes the best paper published in the Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems in the last 4 years. We presented 5 papers, some with Prof. Marco Pavone's lab, spanning the topics of optimal spacecraft control (Matthew Hunter), flight results from distributed optical navigation in a swarm (Justin Kruger), robust transformers for spacecraft trajectory optimization (Yuji Takubo), flight software development and testing through digital twinning (@Toby Bell) and space foundation models for extraterrestrial applications (Matthew Foutter).
I think we had the largest delegation ever from Stanford and I would like to thank the IEEE Aerospace Conference for the opportunity and especially Kendra Cook for the terrific organization. The conference is definitely among the best in aerospace engineering and I encourage everybody to check it out.
